RBRR

Well another RBRR under our belts. That's my 6th and Katies 3rd.This time we did it in her GT6
I didn't get the car off her untill about 10 days before the run , but having done a few and having been very active with these cars over the years the prep was quite easy. The only thing i didn't do was check tyre pressures ..when we did [in scotland] i found the rears at 23 psi ..that would explain some of the lively handling
But the little car possitively flew ..it never missed a beat .even put up with my controlled [sort of] exit from the road when i came into a roundabout way ,way tooo fast and lost traction...there was no doubt ..we were leaving the road ..but managed to exit the black stuff on my own terms so didn't damage the car .And after getting a ticking off from my daughter [ well a bollocking] we carried on
We kept getting news of pullouts ..something like 20 in the end ..but we kept plodding on
My best bit was somewhere in wales..i was behind a german TR6 [another father daughter team] and we were really flying along the lanes ..untill. i'd set myself up nicely for one bend , put my foot on the throttle only for the return spring to break ..giving me full throttle ..with no way of lifting ...so a quick clutch down, engine off ,pullover and fit a made up return spring and we were off again
And we know the event is not a race ..but one of our sponsors said [having seen the 2000 miles in 48hrs bit] that if we came in under 48hrs he'd DOUBLE his pledge....so whilst not a race , that was our target ..and we did it ...we were about 7th car back and were in in something like 47hrs 52mins
Katie is now even more in love with her trumpy ..although i did have to keep telling her that the little red line on the rev counter at 6000rpm was not an indication of the ideal cruising speed
As it's due an MOT in less than a week i'd better get it back off her and check it over post RBRR
